People living with chronic hunger exist in conditions of severe poverty. What they lack is the chance to change their situation, to develop their own self-sufficiency. The most potent confirmation of this fact can be seen in the lives of women. They, along with their children, are the main victims of hunger, and they are also most lacking in opportunities to end their own and their families' hunger.
The greatest tragedy facing humanity today is the persistence of chronic hunger - an intolerable phenomenon that takes the lives of 24,000 of us every day. For fully one-fifth of humanity, life is a daily struggle to survive in conditions of relentless poverty.
Day after day, the lives of one billion individuals are cut short or terribly diminished by chronic, persistent hunger. Many ask the question “Why do God let it happen”
This is said about many things in life, God is blamed “Why did God let it happen.” This has been on the lips of many over the last few weeks with the typhoons, earth quakes and floods that have taken thousands of lives and destroyed millions of homes. "Why did God let it happen?"
God did not let it happen. When He created man and women He wanted so much to fellowship with all of us. But He did not want us as His slaves He gave us a free will to choose the way we want to live.
Most choose the easy way out and to live for themselves. Man has turned God creation up side down and Man inflects the destruction of the environment and brings hunger to millions of people. It is mans selfishness and greed. But why doesn’t God do something about it? He has, He made you and me.
We are His disciples and He wants to use us to reach out to help His hurting people We are His tools in His hands. There are all these thousands of people dying every day. There are thousands of charities they can only do their bit with what they have.
There has been a survey carried out and they have found that only 1 out of 100 Christians give to help the poor. This is why so many people are dying every day and most without knowing the Good News about Jesus. I ask the question "How can they call them self a Christian if they don't have a kind heart? "
It is not what the Bible teaches. Yes they can be saved, but this does not make them a Christian, a Christian is some one that follows the example of our Lord Jesus.
Some people will shout at me "I am a Christian, but always to poor to give or help anyone"
What about the lady who gave in the offering all what she had. She had faith and a kind heart and was blessed many fold. I have seen so many poor people finding it hard to make ends meet, but gave a little amount to help some one, I have seen their lives blessed through this.
One of our members who sponsor a child was going though such a hard time for weeks and weeks, but never missed their payment for their sponsorship, now they are being blessed in many ways.
I have seen families in India give a jar of rice in the offering when they go to church, I know for a fact that many of these will not eat lunch when they get back home, because what they gave to the Lord was their lunch. It is such a blessing to know these people and know they are in our CHRISTIAN family.
This is why the Bible tells us that the road to Heaven is narrow.
ARE YOU A CHRISTIAN OR A LABEL?
If you are a Christian and follow God's teaching then
SAY THESE WORDS: I AM A CHRISTIAN AND I THANK GOD THAT I AM
